OUTFITTER

We are hunting with Cimarron River Outfitters owned by Kent and Clay Jarnagin. It's pretty tough to get an open slot at CRO but if you do, you will experience one incredible Kansas Bowhunt!

Day 1
We're back in Protection Kansas with Kent and Clay Jarnagin of Cimarron River Outfitters. I am here early after my successful hunt ended in Iowa. As always, you will hear the good, the bad, and the ugly on this hunt. We will try and post both a morning and evening update - but no promises. The last buck I shot here was in 2016 so I'm ready to let an arrow fly!
I hunted the junkyard stand and it was on fire! I saw 15 different bucks, and close to 20 does. Two of the bucks were shooters but neither came close enough to shoot or video. I am after one particular buck here that is a stud! I also saw three different buck fights and there was a ton of chasing. It's on here in Kansas!
With all the morning activity I went right back to this stand for the afternoon hunt. It was cold and I needed to bundle up in my new Fanatic system by Sitka. It was also night and day compared to my early hunt. I saw one small buck, one doe and fawn, and a new 3.5 year old buck that was a nice 10 just too young. None of the bucks came close enough to video.

Our hunt takes place in South Central Kansas in Comanche County which is down near the Oklahoma Border. The habitat is a mix of prairie, treebelts, river bottoms, and large agricultural fields. Prime Whitetail habitat.
