Monday Morning Hunt

I had high hopes for my morning hunt. Kent dropped me off before light and ten minutes after he left a deer fed around me. I could not tell what it was at first, but as the pink light grew, I could see it was a doe. She fed off before it got light enough to shoot or video. That was the only deer I saw this morning.

Monday Afternoon Hunt

For the PM hunt I went to the Box stand, the same stand I hunted two years ago where I sat without my tag on the first day. The wind was starting to whip up pretty good but only ten minutes after I got dropped of a small yearling buck ran in. He stayed around for a few minutes before feeding off.

An hour later he came back and this time he brought a friend. It was a nice symmetrical 10pt that was a little too young to be a shooter but would be a real nice buck in a year or two. I video him as he fed around then made a scrape.

Video of this scene (2mb)

Overall it was a pretty slow day. It is still quite warm however the forecast calls for changing temps over the next 48 hours. It was also slow for the other hunters in camp, nobody saw any bucks this morning.

Next - Day 4

Our Kansas bowhunt takes place in Southwest Kansas with Kent Jarnagin of Cimarron River Outfitters.
