A great ending to a tough week of unseasonably warm weather in Ohio. The weather front moving in on Friday got the big boys on their feet and my hunting buddy and I both tagged nice bucks on the last afternoon of the last day of the hunt (130 class and the largest of my buddy’s career). 5 out of the 6 hunters saw shooters, 4 got shots on deer and 3 of us harvested bucks. Mike worked the cameras and his setups hard to get us all on bucks during the week. Mike was persistent that I stick with the same stand location during the later part of the week but after a day and a half of me sitting over the same patch of ground (1 long day in a hang-on, 1/2 day in a blind) I was getting burned out. I resisted the temptation to change things up and listened to Mike and brought home a trophy. The old adage stands true, always trust your guide (or get a new guide). Mike knows his property and he knows the bucks on that property. He is always monitoring the trail cams and knows what’s happening real time.

Accommodations were fine (place to shower, place to eat, place to sleep) and Mike even provided ear plugs which are a necessity for bunk house with 5 other guys.

The only critique that I could give is that some of the stands could use to be upgraded. I can’t sit all day in flat seat hang-on/ladder stand no matter how much cushion I bring. Mike has several Millennium hang ons which are top-tier and what I am used to. Would love to see Mike upgrade all the stands (hang-on and ladder) to Millennium. I love this property and Mike’s operation enough that I would be willing to put in a work weekend to help and I’m 5.5 hrs away (yes, Mike, I’m going on record for that). I bet the rest of our crew that have been hunting with Mike for years would do the same. Tells you something about the kind of operation he runs.
