Recently returned from a 5 day Coues deer hunt with Ward's Outfitters in Sonora, Mexico. The large amount of rain in December did have an adverse affect on the waterhole hunting as not as many animals were seen there as usual. I did manage to shoot a great Pope & Young buck the second afternoon though. In the long run, Steven Ward runs a top notch operation from start to finish. Our guide, Anthony, was absolutely superb. Even though my wife did not take an animal, they did everything possible to try and put her in a position to shoot her first deer.....guess I'll just have to bring her back! I highly recommend anyone that has a desire to go on an outfitted Coues deer hunt, Steven Ward is your guy! Finally, our cook, Hector, was simply amazing.....with the fantastic meals he cooked, I was amazed that when I got home, I did not gain any weight.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
The actual weather on our hunt was not a factor. The unusual large amount of rain in December though, especially around Christmas, did make waterhole hunting hard as it suppressed the deer movement there.
