So my first chance to get back to Western Kentucky since last year and it came during my 10 year old daughter's Thanksgiving break. I pre-booked the hunt a year in advance anticipating getting to take her on her 1st trophy hunt. Guess what? We arrived at camp, our guide Hal meet us at the door.We were eager to get started so after a sandwich and some quick instructions, Hal took us to our ground blind, not 5 minutes from the lodge. Hal told us they had seen nice bucks there. I told Olivia to go ahead get set up, while I sat up the buck and doe decoy and I climbed in the blind with her. As I was sitting down I was looking out and a really nice buck about 300 yards out was heading our way. I saw a rack with my naked eye and I knew it was a shooter! I bumped elbows with Liv and said get ready! She looked at me with disbelief due to the fact we had just sat down. As we scrambled to find her shooting stick, the buck stopped at 200 yards to check a scrape. Liv steadied the crosshairs on him and pulled the tricker. Gentlemen the rest is history, my daughter is ruined lol because she bagged a trophy 9 point, five minutes into a her first hunt. Thanks Mark Clifford for great guides that know where the bucks are, food and lodge was great. We will definitely be back.
That is a good way to spoil them. We always enjoy having kid's in camp. Hats off to all the parents that take their kid's hunting.
Weather a little warm
