Allagash Guide Service

This was my first guided hunt with Allagash Guide Service, though I did their self-guided hunt in 2018. Camp seemed crowded at first as a large group of Amish had booked the same week, but the ladies did not participate in the hunt, so the number of hunters was manageable. After breakfast, we departed in small groups where we passed through the North Maine Woods gate and had a sandwich lunch. They placed us in natural ground blinds sitting on metal chairs, mine at a bait distance of 55 yards. A large boar showed up on opening night, so I sealed the deal. Back at camp, Brandon and his men skinned and quartered my bear to deliver to the butcher. The quartering is a nice touch as it saves money at the butcher (very reasonably priced). Tagging out on Monday can be bittersweet, but AGS made the whole experience enjoyable. Still, I don't like that their standard hunts are only five days, not six. Their self-guided hunt is a full six days. I did one in 2018 and would say it was my favorite guided hunt of all time.
