I first met Cody years ago at the Sportsman show in PA. I spoke with him a couple of times over the years at different shows. In all, I must have talked with over 30 outfitters about elk and bear hunts out west. When it came down to booking a black bear hunt, there was no real competition as Cody and his staff seemed to be the real deal and the most trustworthy! Cody also has a wonderful family, and this is a reflection of the business. All the logistics, licensing, ect. was well planned out and discussed. No issues getting to and out of camp. The lodge is very nice and food was great, including plenty of wild game. The first day was a typical meet and great, then off to the range to dial in the rifles. Cody has access to a 1000 yard range and I got dialed in to 700 yards. I have to say, the county Cody hunts is magnificent, some of the most beautiful country I have seen. Along with the views came an abundance of wildlife. My guide, Eric, and I seen turkey, multiple strutting grouse, moose, whitetail and mule deer, Golden Eagle and Bald Eagles. In fact, there is a nesting pair of Bald Eagles a stones throw from the lodge. The hunting was a little slow the first couple of days, but it was unseasonably warm. It was actually very hot and the bears weren't moving. Even in the bad conditions, Eric gave 100% to locate a bear. Once the weather broke, we were able to get some good sightings. On the last day of the hunt, we were successful on a great mature boar! I can't say enough good things about my guide, Eric, as well as other guides in the camp. You can tell that they are dedicated to giving their hunters opportunities to be successful. All aspects of the hunt were awesome, including game care, processing, and taxidermy. If you are looking for an experienced, multi generational outfitter with amazing guides, access to literally thousands of acres of beautiful and game rich country, then Cody is an excellent choice. I know I can't wait to go back!
