Out of 7 guides used, only 2 had been with outfitter more than 2 years; 3 were partimers using vacation from regular job. 4 hunters lost 6 hunter days from vehicles breakdowns. 5 of 7 guides had no clue of what archers need to be successful. Food was terrible. To be fair, if you want to kill a moose with a gun, you would probably be successful as long as you like to road hunt.

Scott Craig needs to get his facts correct. 3 of the part-timers were guides who had been employed with Ray's Hunting & Fishing in previous years and moved on to permanent employment. 3 of the part-timers guided with our company 5-10 years. Vehicle breakdowns were greatly exagerated and blown out of proportion.

Scott Craig's guide walked 10-12 mile first 2 days of Scott's hunt and Scott informed me that he did not want that type of hunt & walking. On day 3 the guide adjusted the hunt to Scott's request and at days end Scott told me that he had an excellent day hunting.

Day 4 Scott had "buck fever" and wounded a mid 30's moose at a 15 yard shot and we did not recover the moose. The finger pointing included everyone from the guide, the outfitter and the kitchen staff. As regards to the food being terrible, this has been the 2nd complaint re the food in the 20 years that we have been in the outfitting (same cooks at the lodge this week have been employed with our outfitting this past 15 years)

To summarize, this hunter sighted 15 moose during his week at camp, "screwed" up and blew 1 fifteen yard shot due to "buck fever" and did a 2nd stalk on a moose. We stand by our record relating to outfitting and the food at camp and we do not road hunt. A vehicle is used to get from point A to B, then the hunt is tailored to the individual hunter's capability. i.e. walking, calling, glassing & spot and stalk.
