Our group for this week went 1 for 5. This was a tough hunt due to warm weather, lots of beans still standing and the pre-rut was just getting warmed up. Deer movement was really slow during the day but then started picking up a little later on. Hunt was pretty much as Kenny described; each of us sat on private farms that were miles apart. The few stands I sat would seem to be good if the big bucks were actively cruising for does, but that was not the case. I would suggest waiting until the 2nd or 3rd week of November for a better chance with a bow. Only criticism I have is to have a little more focus on bowhunters (we need all the help we can get) ... more stand selections on each farm and more cameras running for intel to move in on them and maybe have the feeders running? Would be nice to have some farms set aside for bow only ... the 2 farms I had both had gun houses in place. No shots for me, but I did get a 130-class 10-pt to within 80 yards one evening.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
Earlier in the week, the lows were only in 50s.
