Hunter Comments

I contacted Huntley Brook Guide Service after returning from a deployment to the Middle East. I missed my states hunting season and was looking to get out. I checked my Bear Hunting Magazine and contacted 3 outfitters in Maine that were recommended in early June and tried to book a hunt and was told that all the bear are rubbed out and I couldn't be accomodated for the spring season. The fourth outfitter I tried was Huntley Brook and I spoke to the owner/operator George Sabattus. George advised me that he still had good bear available and his baits were being hit. I talked it over with the wife and I booked a hunt with George for the the next week. Although skeptical, I just wanted to hunt. My wife and I arrived in Princeton Maine and met George. I was shown pictures of the bears hitting his baits and all were time stampded for that morning or the day prior.Once again I was skeptical but just wanted to hunt. We were taken to our accomadations which were excellent and prepared for the following days sit. My wife was a non hunter and came out with me to sit anyway. After the first night George took my wife and I to the bait sites and I looked t the game cams and their photos myself. The second night a sow and cub came to the bait and the third night I shot a 295 lb beauty of a black bear. George was outstanding in his preperation of the hide and care of the bear. Now here we are going into 4 years later and I have with George every year. I have shot a 295 lb and 305 lb bear so far and booked spring 2014 already. Last Year I went with 4 friends and 3 of us tagged out. 3 of those friends have booked for this spring with George. George has plenty of bait sites to hunt and they have all been well maintained. George is an excellent guide with knowledge of the land and the animals being hunted. His charisma for his business is refreshing. I have hunted with other guides in other states as well as Maine and I will always book with George for Maine bear. From drop off to pick up to tracking to care of animal George and his crew do and excellent job. I've also hunted with George for coyotes in the winter and it was an excellent time.
