We hunted the first week of the season with Bear Track Outfitters. It was a great hunt from start to finish. There were four in our group and we were the only ones in camp. The first day three of us saw a total of 19 bears. The same three each killed bears that night. My brother and friend both killed average bears, but they both shot the first legal bear they saw. I passed on four before I shot one that looked like a bigger bear. It ended up just making P & Y. My dad did not see a bear the first three nights (the reason for the "very good" ranking instead of "excellent"), but on the fourth night he killed a bear that was about the same size as mine. After he had shot that bear, an even bigger one showed up. All of that to say Bear Track Outfitters has plenty of bears and some real trophies too. We saw some huge tracks. A real nice bear showed up on trail cam pictures, and our friend even saw a monster while checking baits. The food was as great as all the other reviews said. Jeannine is a wonderful cook and I looked forward to every meal. Ron, Jeannine, and Darren were all very friendly and easy to talk to. They shared many stories and made us feel welcome. Also, since we were done hunting so quickly, we were able to help set baits and learn more about black bear hunting. That part was just as fun as the actual hunt. Speaking of the baits, Ron uses plenty of bait and does a great job of having several active baits. One thing that was maybe unique for our group was my dad's lack of success (or even a little luck) the first three days. Both Ron and Darren continued to work hard if not harder for just the one hunter and they both stayed very positive and confident that Dad would get his chance. That was good to see and I think shines positive light on the character of the outfitter and guide. Bear Track Outfitters works hard and does a great job at providing an excellent hunt. I would definitely recommend giving them a call if you are looking for a quality bear hunt.
Jerid's review is right on. The group did see a bunch of bears while with us. His dad hunted a different bait every night, which is our policy, and darn I could not pick the right one! I'd sooner hunt 2 guests than 1 any time. I did pick the right one and dad's luck changed and he saw multiple bears, which is more normal. After shooting his bear, he stuck close to it thinking of a story I told him of bears being dragged off by other bears. (That is a whole new story though). The Stoffel group is welcome any time!
