In 2008, my wife and I booked an archery hunt with Hadley Creek for the 2009 season. We had to cancel the hunt in January of 2009 and informed HCO of this and requested return of our $2,000 deposit (less the $250 processing fee) via certified mail. Stacy Ward's wife, Michelle, signed for the certified letter. They never acknowledged our cancellation or sent us a refund. I called and left voicemail messages 3 times and my calls were never returned (nobody ever answers the phone - all calls go into voicemail). I did some checking and found that Stacy Ward and Hadley Creek Outfitters had a terrible reputation both as an outfitter as well as not returning deposits for hunt cancellations. I finally had to hire an attorney in Illinois to recover my deposit. Of course I was not able to recover my attorney fees or the $500 "processing fee".
We also talked with other hunters who had hunted with HCO and would never go back. Stands are over-hunted, guides work for hunting privileges (conflict of interest). Camp accommodations are overcrowded. Stacy Ward has multiple convictions for various conservation law violations and has had many judgements handed down against him in civil court proceedings. All of this info is available on the internet.
Stay away from Stacy Ward and Hadley Creek Outfitters!!
