Rye | |||||
Cereal Rye, not to be confused with Ryegrass is a cool season grain that is cold hardy and stays green into the winter in many locations. It tolerates poor soils with less than ideal PH levels and is relatively easy to plant by broadcast or drill techniques. Rye is very attractive to deer however somewhat less than alfalfa, clover, peas, buckwheat and soybeans. It withstands browsing pressure well and is a good compliment to buckwheat which provides warmer season forage while rye provides colder season forage. |
