All hunts include lodging in our comfortable bunkhouse complex, guide service, home cooked meals, and lots of good western hospitality. There are NO HIDDEN CHARGES.

Elaine and I opened our ranch to hunters in 1976, and our past history indicates that our clients should expect 100% success with a Rifle, and 80-100% success with a Bow.

Bow hunting starts on September 1st. The Antelope hunting is from permanent blinds by water holes, with shots of 15-25 yards. In the latter part of the season, decoys and calling also work on the Antelope. The Deer hunting is from blinds and stalking creek bottoms, side draws, and our "Pine Ridge." Elk hunting is from stands, stalking, and calling. Bringing those Elk in close can get pretty exciting!

Our Rifle hunts start October 1st. We begin hunting 2-20 minutes from camp, using spotting scopes and binoculars to look for that special trophy, then sneak in as close as possible. Please be familiar with your gun, and know your capabilities.

WHAT TO BRING & EXPECT

LICENSES

You should receive your Deer &/or Antelope licenses by July 15th. We will have Archery Permits and Conservation Stamps at the ranch. We expect 100% draw for both Deer and Antelope.

Hunters born after Jan 1, 1966 will need a Hunter Safety Card. DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR WYO HUNTING LICENSES WITH YOU!!

TRANSPORTATION

The map page gives directions to the ranch. Please plan to arrive after 2 PM on the day before your hunt, and to leave by Noon on the day after your hunt. For insurance and licensing reasons we will no longer be offering transportation from the Casper airport. There is a cab company in Casper that charges approximately $120 per trip, and can carry up to 4 people with some luggage. Their services would have to be arranged in advance of your trip (RC Cab Co. (307) 235-5203). Many hunters rent a car in Casper or Denver so they have some flexibility in transportation. It is a 5 hr drive from Denver to the Spearhead, but reduces the risk of lost luggage and solves the problem of limited connecting flights into and out of Casper (which is an 80 mile, 1.5 hr drive to the ranch).

ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS

We have a nice Bunkhouse Complex that takes the roughing-it out of your hunt with 2-3 beds per room, mens & womens bathrooms with showers, and a large area for visiting. In an effort to make your packing easier we will have pillows, sheets, and comforters available. You will have to supply your own towels. We do not provide maid service so we ask you to pick up after yourself. We will furnish all the meals while on the ranch.

EQUIPMENT

All hunters should have a flashlight, water bottle, knife, and their usual hunting gear. Bow Hunters will also need a urine bottle. We suggest everyone bring along a good pair of binoculars and a camera. While a scent loc suit is not necessary, scent control is important. For reasons of scent control we discourage short sleeve shirts and shorts in the blinds.

WEATHER

It is hard to predict the weather in Wyoming so prepare for anything from Snow to 90 degree temperatures. The Antelope Bow Hunters will want to dress in layers, because it is usually pretty cool when you first get to a blind, but can warm up fast during the day.

CARE OF GAME MEAT

We have both a walk-in cooler and freezer on the ranch to keep your game from spoiling. We use a processing plant in Casper, which does an excellent job, and will box your meat or have it ready for your cooler. If you want to cut up your game yourself plan to bring a cooler with you to keep your meat from spoiling on your trip home. For those of you wishing to leave your meat behind we require you to pay the processing charge (Deer - $75, Antelope - $60). We can arrange to have your trophies caped or mounted by a taxidermist if you desire.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything further from us before your hunt.
