This hunt was an unforgettable experience, a vivid memory of being on the side of the mountain on our last day of the hunt, the cold wind blowing while hunkered down with Dylan who was keeping me focused since I still could not seem to find the mysterious deer they said was about 600 yards above us. Him and the other guides had been tracking this buck for a few months at that time and had showed me trail cam photos of this beautiful buck. Their dedication to ensuring that I would get an opportunity to have a clear shot at this animal was amazing to me. I didn't understand all of this until the moment where I hear the other guides tell Dylan over the radio that the buck we had been tracking had just got up from his bedded position and was now on the move. As I looked through the scope to find the animal, all the tips that these guys showed me allowed me to find the the deer quickly. Seeing that there were 4 or more deer in this group I had to trust Dylan's direction as for which one I was to take my shot at. Calmly describing our target buck Dylan verified I was now tracking the elusive deer i didn't believe was there. I took my first shot and missed that's when Dylan calmly said take a deep breath and put your eye back through that scope, 320 yards still for some reason I was granted another shot which was on target and made the animal collapse a few yards away. The emotion from the whole team when we succeeded was something indescribable. This was the hunt of a lifetime from the small details like the encouraging remarks when no hope was in site to the 5 star meals being cooked for me in the middle of nowhere.
