The Garrett Bros. camp was more than I had expected. Comfortable accomodations including separate trapper cabins, lodge for meals and relaxing, hot showers, laundry and a wonderful family atmosphere. Pat told me all I needed to do was to show up and enjoy every minute as he, his family and guides would do everything possible to make the hunt completely enjoyable. They did exactly that and more.
Bear sightings were down due to a cold snap with wind and some rain early in the week. Mid-week to the end of the week increasingly improved in terms of weather and bear sightings.
The guides did an outstanding job working the baits and transportation up and down river was fantastic.
The Garretts have a great reputation and certainly lived up to it in every aspect.
My next black bear hunt is a no-brainer, it's Garrett Bros. all the way.
I could only be critical using a different outfitter as my experience with Garrett Bros. Outfitting was next to perfect in a not so perfect world.
In my opinion, the Garrett Bros. have set the benchmark for all outfitters to mirror.
