What an incredible week I had out with Wide Rack and here is my review:
Guides: Mike, Todd and Travis are all hard working guys who are passionate about getting you your trophy. They want to make sure you are happy with the hunt and do their best to put you on game. They are familiar with the properties and know where and when the game should start showing up. This was my first year there and I felt right at home.
Quality of game: Outstanding number of deer to be seen from the stands - the first morning I had a great hunt seeing a fork, spike and 150" 8pt that would have gotten shot had he gone right instead of left. I also saw about a dozen different does and hundreds of turkey.
Most of the hunts worked out to be about the same quantity of game but keep mind this is fair chase whitetail hunting and you can't always predict where, when or why mature bucks do what the do. After day 1 I felt I got more than my monies worth with the encounters I had and the sheer number of deer sighted - but it only got better.
On the third morning it was 13 degrees and that was enough to keep the bucks on their feet long enough to put an arrow in one. I was trilled to kill an old warrior and am booked for 2015 already.
Equipment: all of the stands I hunted were great with safety lines and comfortable seats. I had no issues with any of the equipment and Todd and Travis kept the mechanical things operating in great form.
Out of 10 stars Widerack gets 11. I've been out with plenty of outfitters and Mike, Todd, and Travis are some of the best and hard working fellas around.
Nice job guys!!!! Keep after it and maybe next year I can put a hurt on icky for you.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
Arctic blast of cold air stirred up the winds a bit but we rolled with it.
