This was my first guided hunt and first bear hunt for three friends and me. We had an absolute blast and all killed great bears. Ron's area is large and diverse with many baits spread out and well attended. I can't imagine anyone coming up and not having an opportunity at a bear. Running the baits with his other guide, Pat, really made me feel like a part of the hunt. It's a real confidence booster while sitting in the stand knowing the bait you are hunting is getting hit when you see the evidence yourself.
I can't say enough good things about the food and Jeannine's cooking - amazing! It's cross between comfort food and gourmet with plentiful portions. As Ron stated - you WILL gain weight when you're here!
Ron will do everything in his power to get you on a hot bait and the bear you are looking for. His other guide, Pat, is as hard working as they come. These guys are putting in a lot of hours and getting little sleep so you can relax and enjoy the hunt with as little or as much particitpation as you want. Ron is a great story teller and has a million of them coming from his many years of guiding and outfitting which makes meal time twice as enjoyable.
We hope to make the trip again in the near future and I would highly recommend Bear Track Outfitters for your first or next bear hunt!
Nick and the rest of the hunters in his group were a great group to guide that week. The best part was taking up a blood trail the second morning of their hunt and finding a beautiful chocolate at the end of the trail, and then to take a father/son picture later that morning with that very same chocolate and his son's great black bear from the previous night. We get more cinnamons and blonds than chocolate colored bears. Jeannine and I look forward to their return.
The weather was great - sunny, warm days, cool nights, light winds.
