This hunt was outstanding for leopard. Dries had several baits running and we had leopard hitting all but one. This TOM was hitting every now and then and Dries waited till everything was perfect before we hunted him. We spent exactly 3 hours in the blind and this huge tom came in. He ended up scoring #4 in SCI and remains one of my best trophies to date.
I also hunted plains game on this hunt. But the plains game hunting was pretty slow. I did kill a nice gemsbok but the weather was cool and moist, which made the waterholes slower than usual.
Overall, an excellent hunt.
I will never forget that night with Pat, having this huge Tom at 13 yards from us and after the shot he nearly bumped into our blind on my side! Leopard is my favourite hunt and Pat's leopard is one of the biggest I got for my clients so far! Thanks Pat, I enjoyed hunting with you!
The weather was cold, and it only affected the plains game hunting. But the leopard hunting was not affected by the cold temps at all.
