I was an observer on this hunt, a gentleman and his two sons were hunting. Doug Arnold was our guide. We had the perfect set up for Turkey. We were in a surround of low scrub trees that had a natural opening that Doug had set cammo netting across. I was situated in the scrub behind the three hunters and they were, of course, up front behind the netting. Doug was off to our right and ahead of us in some scrub about 30 yards away and had those Toms on a string coming up on our right from behind us, double and triple gobbling. The birds came up so close I could have reached through the scrub and grabbed them. I had a hard time sitting still when they were gobbling right next to me. Doug continued calling them up and around our left. He had those birds so rev'd up and when our guide saw they were hard left and open for the shot he yelled "fire!" and those birds double gobbled again. It was one of the most intense, fun and exciting turkey hunts I have ever been on, aside from my own when I was hunting with Doug Arnold and bagged my Tom. We saw plenty of birds, both Easterns and Rios.
