This was my second weekend to hunt in 2 weeks. The first time there was four guys in camp too. No one saw any deer the first weekend either out of 4 hunts (Friday noon to Sunday noon) with no animals harvested. No one saw any deer the second weekend but the grandson (a guide) killed a pig on Friday night, then on Saturday he had two friends come to pig hunt only. They went out and killed another pig on Saturday night leaving me and a married couple in camp without any harvest that weekend. Obviously, they know where some animals are but don't let you hunt those stands. On this ranch you can kill 2 bucks (1 being management), 2 doe, 2 turkeys and 2 pigs. I like the stand and feeder setups but the deer never came to the feeders. You could tell that the were eating it because there wasn't big piles of corn on the ground. This was a Texas Hill Country Hunt and I grew up about 30 minutes from here and I know there are tons of deer in this area, just not on this Ranch. It was 900 acres with about 20 stands, no more than 10 hunters a weekend. No bucks had been taken so far in 2007 through (12/9/2007) even though they have about a 2 inch stack of buck pics taken from there alleged feeders. However, they also have several other Ranches either season leased or not available for day hunts so these pics could have come from there because there certainly wasn't any deer on this ranch. The living quarters is a 100 year old farm house, which wasn't a problem for the costs of the hunt. The food is poor. Whatever you have on Friday night you will have again on Saturday night with a little something else added to it. If your group isn't big enough you won't get the "Saturday Night Special", a cobbler made in a big dutch oven with coals. Neither weekend I got this and I paid $700. Oran certainly tells you all about it and how wonderful it is then he says owe but your group isn't big enough. I would've bought the ingredients if I could have got it and taken some home. However, they gladly take your money! My conclusion is to stay away from Oran Hill Outfitters it is a waste of time and money plus you won't see any deer!
