Another great year with Derrel, Bob and family. My group of 3 archers saw too many bears to count. One fellow saw 9 one night. Collectively, we took 4 bears but could have tagged out any given night. I killed a 19 1/2" black, my dad killed a copper colored bear that was one of the most unusual coats I've seen. My buddy killed a black sow the first night (his first ever bear)and huge black that I call the "Sumo bear" for its ridiculously short, thick features. We all saw at least one P& Y class bear each. I passed on a borderline Popey merely because its was "just a blackie."
Color sightings were about 50% although, personally, I am somehow cursed to see mostly blacks. After 3 years its starting to become a joke between me and Derrel. Over the years, I think I killed the only color phase I've seen on stand(last year). You'd have to know the area to realize how strange that truly is.
As always, the food was wonderful and the hospitality was warm and fun-loving. All in all, a world class bear hunt and a great way to experience rural Canada. The hunt provides tags for 2 bears and there are no trophy fees or extra fees of any kind. The listed price gets you 2 bears, fully guided care and the experience of a lifetime with top-notch people.
Thanks again for the kind words Randy. The crew looks forward to you guys comming up every year.I dont know who has the most fun you guys or our crew.Truly an enjoyable hunt with your group.Derrel
