Went with Tuttulik on the "working man's hunt" this year. Saw only one caribou in five days of hunting... and he was 1000 yards away. eight hunters took four caribou, only one with a rifle. Camp facilities were adequate, and the outfitter can't make there be caribou, so no complaints there.

The one issue I do have with how Tuttulik runs their drive up hunts is that there is nobody "on the ground" so to speak in Radisson. We were informed by the airport staff the morning we were to depart that there were no flights scheduled! You should have seen 18 upset hunters sitting outside the airport that morning! Air Inuit didn't know if they were flying... the airport didn't know they were flying... we finally got ahold of Harry Makis in Montreal and he said "don't worry". Well, they finally got things straightened out and we would have flown, provided the weather cooperated. The only other complaint other than logistics that I have is that the camp man assumed that we as the "last week" would help him break down camp and prepare it for the winter. We were all in agreement that it was reasonable to do the dishes, sweep up the place, and basically get it clean. But dealing the meathouse, boats, generators, bleaching the floors, etc... that's NOT a paying customer's job. That's the camp man's job.

Overall, I had a great trip, but a disappointing first caribou hunt. Some of the issues were out of the outfitters hands, others were not. I would go back, but my hunt with Tuttulik this year was not all I was lead to believe it would be.
