I arrived for a 2 day late shotgun season hunt in Ohio with Whitetail Heaven in mid December. The lodge was pretty full, and I was a student in anesthesia school at the time. I had discussed this prior to coming, and I was assured to be properly accommodated. Upon arrival, I was told that I would be staying in the hotel down the street from the lodge, which I said was fine if it was nice due to my studies. My experience at the hotel was horrendous! I’m not even going to begin to attempt and indulge on the details of that. My hunting experience was not up to par either. I’ve hunted all of my life and been blessed to be able to kill countless good deer and bear with a variety of weapons, but with the amount of hunters they roll through camp, you’re at their mercy. I did not see a shooter my entire hunt and sat daylight to dark both days. The food was great, but to my knowledge only 2 deer were killed during my stay out of 21 hunters, and both hunters were fined due to the size of the animal. The last morning I hunted, a hunter was coon hunting on the farm I deer hunted. I txted my guide and Tevis. Tevis agreed to allow me to come back up in January for late muzzy season for a major discount, so I was somewhat appeased but still in major frustration. Looking back, I wish I would have saved the money and paid for school without ever going!
