Verdigris Valley Outfitters is a camp that I highly recommend to any hunter looking for the opportunity of a life time to harvest a trophy buck. Doug Arnold runs a classy operation and each hunter is just about guaranteed an opportunity to take a shot at a quality buck. I've hunted with Doug's operation the last two seasons and look forward to the up and coming 2007 hunt. Patience, discipline and a little experience comes into play when hunting in the prime stand placements that Doug works so hard to provide his hunters with. The accomodations are great, the food is excellent and the atmosphere at camp is always fun and exciting. During my 2005 hunt I was lucky enough to see three 150 class bucks in and around the same stand within a matter of four days. During 2006 I had a decent amount of buck action each day in the stand an actually got the opportunity to take a shot at a approx. 130 class eight pointer but missed. The only way to understand the quality of the land and the deer heard in this part of Kansas is simply to experience it first hand. Weather is weather no matter where you hunt and there is no controlling mother nature but Kansas does produce a decent amount of wind at times and it's not uncommon to have some warm days during the RUT. Be prepared to stay focused and attentive at all times in the stand, because if the temperature drops a few degrees in the right direction the deer movement will pcik up instantly.
