I would recommend this outfitter only because if you want to kill a black bear of any size, you probably will get a chance. In a week of hunting you will most likely only see one bear. This is not the place to go if you want to kill a bear over 200 pounds. Not only that, when these guys have a big bear coming into one of their baits, they won't put any paying clients there but keep it for themselves to hunt at the end of the season. I find that very surprising and disgusting. Not only that, they openly say how many baits they were keeping for themselves and not letting paying clients hunt the best baits. The guide bad-mouthed his boss a lot all week and even threw a radio at him. His guide also could only talk about himself and how he was the best tracker in maine, the best guide, the best moose caller, and on and on and on...it got old at the end of the week. I hunted very hard with these guys and didn't see a bear till the last day in the last 15 minutes of shooting time. It was 105lbs and I did bring it home with me. My friend went with me and wounded a bear the beginning of the week and the fourth day out he thought he made a perfect shot on a bear. The outfitter 'George' waited until the next day to go look and when he did go; he only looked for 15 minutes in a very sloppy way randomly walking around and not looking for a trail. It did rain all night, but the bear would of left behind foot prints and scuff marks. My friend was positive it was a killing shot and that the bear was laying somewhere close by. I plan to not ever go back to these guys but will recommend them only because you will probably see a bear in a week of hunting. The drive to the hunting area was almost an hours drive and over a very rough road. After the evening's hunt, you sometimes had to wait for 2 hours in the dark to get picked up. Making it 11:30 -12:30 to get back to our cabins every night. I cannot recommend him to my friends because of the lack of opportunities to harvest a bear.
