I was in camp when the weather was in the 80's to low 90's at the top of the mountains. Keep in mind, the temp had not gotten above 50deg. for 3 weeks prior to my arrival. All the critters, and I mean ALL, were not moving around at all 'til very late in the evening. Rut had all but shut down. In light of all the adversity of nature, we saw, and stalked a lot of game. Not only elk, but also bear and whitetail. However , once again, due to the changing winds in the very late hours of the day, I was not able to close the deal. The service provided by Andrew and his wife Sara during the hunt was supurb. The horses we used were great; well mannered and sure-footed. The food and accommodations were well appreciated at the end of a long day's hunt. Please note when you start out in the dark on horseback, climb to 6500 ft. and come back down in the dark on horseback it can be one of the most memorable experiences imaginable. I will do it again - good Lord willing! One comment in reference to the last review-- Why pay a guide and not listen to him? I was there and saw what happened. Your "know better " attitude cost you shots on at least 3 occasions that i'm aware of. I you wanted a sure thing ,why not go on a fence hunt?
