I do not recommend this outfitter

I wouldn’t come here if you’re looking for a professional outfitter. We were lied to the whole time. Bill Pyles (owner and operator) told me that he had cameras out everywhere and that he had been putting out feed to get the deer on a late season pattern. I called 3 days before we came in and asked if he had checked the cameras. He said no but was going out that day to check them and would send me some pictures. That never happened! Then the day that we were traveling to Ohio, I called and asked what the cameras showed. Bill said, I’m going to check them now...unfortunately, when we showed up later that day he said, “oh my batteries were dead”. He showed me 2 cameras when he told me he has over 100 stands and 4000+ acres and you only have 2 cameras. We started our hunt on January 7, 2012. The weather was warm so that didn't help, however we saw more hunters than we did deer. We were on 200 acre farms that were also hunted by others based on the amount of hunters we saw roaming around. Bill told us other hunters don't really care about posted signs or anything else for that matter. Bill asked us if we could have chili and I told him no that I couldn't eat it do to my stomach problems...we got back from the hunt and there was chili on the stove, so we had to go into town that night to eat. How can you have QDM on your property when you have a bunch of small tracks surrounded by heavy hunting pressure? When we asked to see pictures of some big bucks he had on camera all he showed us was pictures from summer (in velvet)...had a several bucks 120’s to 130’s not 150’s to 170’s like he told me. I brought two of my top clients on this hunt and was very embarrassed. I went to this outfitter based on his online reviews, which were very good. I feel like people should really do some digging before they come to this place. After the second day of the hunt it was quite apparent that Bill Pyles had not done his homework, had not done what he said he would and had no plans of putting any effort into making this a hunt to remember, so we pulled the plug and hit the road on the third morning. I think its important to note that I don’t need to get bone on the ground to have successful hunt, just an outfit the prides itself on doing their homework and doing their best with respect to the things that are in their control.

Was the outfitter notified of problems? - NO

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

The weather was terrible warm and that put alot of our local slugflingers out in the timber and about 20% don't care about signs or fences and deer we're moving at night and mid day due to full moon and he knew all the pics we we're getting we're at night, other than that Jason is at best a high fence hunter and forgot to mention he stayed 2 days on a 4 day hunt, he hunted a couple of hours a day, the other guys in camp hunted their asses off those are the one's I have any respect for and feel bad for. We have no control over local hunters or weather, as for the chili, really..... he could have asked us to do something else for him but he ran his mouth so much we had no idea what he wanted and had to keep asking the other guys in his group if he was serious. Also would like to add NO BUCKS WE'RE TAKEN ON THIS HUNT and very few seen, and he was not the only one screwed by trespassers so draw your own conclusions , that was our last Muzzleloader season seems like the only problems we have are during that time so we will just eliminate it. Everybody have a great new year.
