Had the chance to bowhunt with Beau Carlson of Coppers Creek Outfitters this past November. To start, Beau, Tyson the rest of the guides and the friends who assist in this hunt are great people and make you feel like family. All guides are very intense about getting you a buck and will give it their best. For my hunt I was in the tree for three full days and shot a buck on the fourth afternoon. Throughout these days I saw approximately twelve bucks including a 140 and the one that I lost which I would call a 150. As for the buck I lost I rushed a shot on a spooked deer and pulled a dumb mistake. We tracked this buck for a mile and a half only to lose blood. Beau was there tracking on the night I shot as well as the next day as if it was his own buck. Can't say enough for the guy. During the hunt I sat the same stand the first three days because I had action the whole time. When I moved to the second stand I shot the deer on the fourth day. My brother also hunted for four days and saw a monster 160 coming with a smaller eight. The eight came right under him at ten yards and the big buck veered sixty yards off. The weather was touchy for the first few days with it getting warm but the fourth and fifth days provided good weather. There were nine hunters in camp and there were five deer shot with some missed opportunities. All stands were comfortable and set up in perfect spots for the wind. Overall, I feel it was a great hunt and would recommend this hunt to anyone wanting to travel to Illinois to bowhunt big bucks. I will return in the coming years.
