This was an early season bowhunt for summering elk in the heads of the basins. I'm sure the migration hunt later in the season is much better but the quantity of elk seen was pretty weak in my opinion. It is a physical hunt with many hours spent on horseback rather than actual hunting. Most elk were found 2-3 hrs from basecamp by horseback. Saw more sheep in this area than elk. Luckily, I ended up being the only one in camp due to a cancellation. If not, the number of elk would not have supported additional hunters.
