I have hunted "The Wilderness" on several occasions and each time was above and beyond my expectations. The lodge is wonderful, the staff is super friendly and the grounds are easy to walk no matter what your condition. The animals were plentiful and I was pleased with the animal choices. The only negative thing I could say is that I booked a trophy hunt for $750.. found out after I got there that $750 was a trophy sow.. not a trophy boar. But that was minor since the taxidemist uses fake teeth anyway. I would recommend The Wilderness to anyone.

Outfitter's Response

When a hunter is hunting whitetail, elk ect. they are looking for the male of the species. However when hunting wild boar and even bears the hunter is hunting a male and female of that species according to body size. Most hunters would rather harvest a 400lb sow wild boar or bear that a 200lb male any day. (I have) If hunters only shot the males, the price would be twice to a hundred times more. For instance a whitetail doe hunt can be $500 or less while a buck hunt can be $5000 or more. Thank goodness we can all go to our taxidermist and order small, medium and large mouth peaces for our pig mounts. It saves us all allot of money and looks good on the wall. Ultimately the hunter has the choice to shoot what ever they want if they pay the price. Thank you for hunting with us Andy, Sorry for the confusion over the boar-sow issue.
