This was our 2nd Spring Black Bear hunt with Ken and Linda Buxton (K&L Outfitters)and all I can say is that it keeps getting better. This hunt is based out of Dorintosh Saskatchewan, with hunts happening inside the Meadow Lake Provincial Park and when needed, the surrounding 'Crown Land'.
The biggest change from our previous trip was that operations moved from a rented 4 bedroom one bath cabin, to a totally new facility consisting of a 4400 sq ft featuring a 2200 sq ft lower level dedicated to hunters, and a 2200 sq ft residence. The hunter's lodge area featured 4 new (and large) bedrooms, two full baths and a large community/recreation room. An archery range, equipment shed, hunter parking were all thoughtfully laid out.
Meals were all homemade and fit for Royalty! Breakfasts ranged from sausage and egg caserole to french toast, to bacon and eggs etc. Dinners ranged from pasta, roast beef, fried chicken, baked ham, moose roasts to name a few. Freshly made soup and sandwiches were waiting for us every evening after returning from teh woods.
Animal Quality and Quantity were off the charts. All hunters saw multiple bears throughout the their hunts. Millie (Lady Bowhunter) took what may end up being a BOONER - green scoring 22+, I took an above average sow with a large white V on it's chest (something I've always wanted).
Trophy Care was unbelievable. Ken actually took time to talk with our taxidermist in New Brunswick to discuss he (the taxidermist) preferred the hids be prepared for land shipment to his shop.
Would I recommend this hunt - YES, in fact we've already booked for next year and have started counting the days.
We would like to thank the Hollands for hunting with us. We take great pride in accomodating our hunters and providing them with the best hunt possible.Ken & Linda Buxton K&L Outfitters Dorintosh, Sask. Canada.
