I had an excellent hunt. In the five days that I hunted,I had 46 bears approach the bait (boars, sows, cubs). On two seperate occasions I could see 8 bears at a time (3 cubs and 5 mature bears). I do not think that in the 30 plus hours that I was in the treestand that there were 4 total hours that I did not have bears in bow range. I had an exceptional bear come in to the bait that I could not take an ethical shot on. He was extremely cautious, and only committed to the bait for a few minutes before moving out of bow range. I had opportunities at mature bears every day (both sows and boars), but would not settle for a smaller bear after seeing this bruiser. The other two hunters both killed bears that were in excess off 300 lbs, and were in excellent condition. I had an excellent time, and learned alot about bear hunting and bear behavior. Al only takes a limited amount (10 hunters) per year. Every one saw a minimum of 4 bears per hunt, but my stand stole the show for overall activity. Day 1- 10 bears. Day 2 12 bears. Day 3- 15 bears. Day 4- 4 bears and Day 5 was 5 bears. I would definitely recommend Spritwood Outfitters for a canadian bear hunt. They had plenty of active baits, some that were never even hunted this year. Camp is secluded on the north end of Chitek Lake, so their is plenty of fishing opportunities as well.

We have a very high bear population and by limiting the number of bears taken each year, we see a large number of big boars every year. P&Y bears are shot on most years with B&C bears being taken quite frequently. It is not uncommon to see 10 to 15 different bears a some bait sites on a regular basis. Leonard gave a basic overview of his hunt however he can give many more details of the hunt and expierences while in the stand, getting into and out of the stand while there are a number of bears at the bait.
