I do not recommend this outfitter

The issue was not with the service of the outfitter or quality of the accommodations. The issues was that there were 3 separate camps of 6 or more individuals in each camp. Many others hunters had hunted earlier in the season with no luck on these properties according to our guide Harry. If you figure this out, that is a hell of a lot of hunting pressure on their properties even before we arrived. Out of all these hunters the week I was there, only one, Eric, you can see his rating on the outfitter, shot a buck. He was from CA and had never hunted before! Great for him! One other hunter in our cabin shot at and missed a 120 class buck which is not suppose to be taken 3 yr old. No one else in our cabin saw something over 130+ except me the whole week we hunted during peak rut. I can assure you all the hunters in my cabin hunted hard several of them staying out all day several days even in the rain. Harry was wonderful and willing to relocate you or a stand anytime. I booked prime rut, early November. I saw a total of 6 different deer an only one was a shooter buck. All the others were less than 2 years old. I worked hard, rattling up what I saw during shooting times. 2 nights I rattled in late a 130+ class buck on the edge of a field for less than 10 sec. but he was to far away over 150 yds every time and was at the last bit of light. The issues is that the property in my opinion and from what I saw and learned from Harry and the others in camp is that the property has been so over hunted (pressure)that the shooter bucks only come out at night even in the rut. Harry indicated that no one has been able to get a shot on the 130 I saw and he flat "disappears about now and then we will see him again early next season".

With this said I will say that Harry did invite me back after Christmas to hunt for free any weekend I wanted. Secondly, I have hunted many a year without seeing something at all and understand that there are no guarantees but the website and the expectation was given when I booked is that I would have a chance to KILL something 130 or above! This is not the case in my or anyones else's experiences in the cabin I was in. I would have given rave reviews if I felt I was given a real chance to see and kill something 130 or better as their website states. I would say that the reviews for the 2010 season I read were accurate from the hunters viewpoint. Good and Bad. I will not be back because the property has been over hunted and does not give one a real chance to shoot a 130+ buck. Harry is a great guide he just does not have the property to service that many hunters!

Was the outfitter notified of problems? - YES

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

Hey Eric!  We value our customers, comments and feedback. First, it sounds like you were misinformed on are info on what we have here at Trophy Hunts. I will not get into that right now.

I just wanted to point out that you were also in the same camp as Darren Hodges. (see his Complaint)

It sounds like as the owner I did not do my job, It is my fault that your guide did not do his job.  As far as taking you or your camp mates to other farms that we have because you were not seeing anything. Big bucks only take one time to get spooked. So if you were not seeing any, this could of  been a  big factor, and we did not address that, I thought the guide was doing his job obviously  NOT. We have addressed and fixed the problem. We do have enough acreage to comfortably accommodate up to 25 hunters at one time BUT we choose not to.  We may take 10-12 at one time but only at prime times .  I was running another group  of 4 guys, and out of that 4, 2 were successful and 1 missed. just fyi and they are on here as well  with positive remarks I would like to extend the original offer to you to come back at no charge, just contact me. Thanks for your feedback to make our hunting experiences better for the future hunter. We strive to be the best, and with your report it helps us to make us better and be able to fix the issues Thanks again, Mike
