This was an Eastern Colorado mule deer hunt during November of 2010. My guide was Rob Amidon, and let me say he did work his butt off trying to get me a deer. I was unsuccessful. During my 5 day hunt we saw 2 shooter bucks. We were busted early on the first stalk, and on the second stalk was not presented a safe and ethical shot. Both deer were nice bucks that I would have loved to harvest. Just did not work out. I believed I would see more deer than I did, and I believe both Rob and Wes thought I would see more deer than I did. I fully understand it was a wild unfenced hunt, and you never know what will happen. I would highly recommend Rob. Rob is a mule deer expert. He is easy to get along with, and a true gentleman. I guess I would give the following advice on the Eastern Colorado mule deer hunt. Don’t go out there thinking you will see a lot of deer, you may not. But when you do see one, it may be a big one. Wes and Rob have shot some big deer out there. I guess it was not my year. That’s the way it goes sometimes.
