Based on traditional Alberta deer hunting stats, Alberta is known for its quality of deer, not its quantity. For those of us in the Northeast, many of us are used to literally used to seeing herds of deer run across a corn field while hunting. Although, they are not known for their density, I was fortunate enough to see 20 deer my first day, including 1 shooter buck and 6 smaller bucks. One the third day of the hunt I was able to take my first whitetail. It was a 150 class non-typical with a split left beam, and on eye guard that resembles that of an elk, as it sticks straight out from the base of the antlers. I was overly satisfied with the guide's services, food, accomodations, and knowlegde. At the end of my trip I thanked Kevin from Venture North Outfitters, his wife Heather (great guide), and Mike (great guide) for taking me through the true Whitetail University. I can't wait to go back again!
