I recommend this outfitter

Mike Vaughn manages his outfitting/guide service very well comparing him to other outfitters I have been with for the last 25 years. I have been hunting at mikes place 3 times in the last 4 years. I have been drawn to the abundance of elk I see on a daily basis when I have been there. I have passed up many Elk, 6 this past year alone waiting it out for a trophy bull. MIke is one of the nicest, honest guys you will ever meet, he will listen to you and do his best to make you as comfortable as possible. What I really like about Mike is he will interact with your hunt as much or as little as you prefer. I am very independent, leave me alone, just give me a map type hunter, and Mike is just fine with that. However I know he will be there in a snap If I need him. The accommodations are fair, you will have a hot shower, hot coffee and hot food all you want. you are living in the mountains with the Elk, so expect to eat a little dirt and step in a little mud. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Outfitter's Response
Agree

Eat dirt! I'll have to look into that. LMAO! Glad to hear you enjoy hunting Washington elk. Many folks have no idea of the quality of the elk herds over here. I always say there are things an outfitter can control and things he can't. He best control the things he can. This year we have expanded to the west. Hunts will be run from deluxe wall tent camps like the ones I set up in Montana for years. As always hunters will be warm, dry, well fed (hold the dirt), and treated with respect. After all that's the easy part right? My Montana camps received rave reviews and the first class home cooked meals always got included in the reviews. Look for even better meals and accomodations here since I no longer have to pack everything into the back country on mules.... not that that ever stopped us. In the meantime I guess you've said all that needs said about the quality of hunting. Thanks for the kind words Jon and hope to see you again soon. Joe Ferraro
