I do not recommend this outfitter

Owner and staff were very friendly, food was very good, and lodging was very comfortable. Now to the hunting.....4 bowhunters had only 5 metal ground blinds to choose from to hunt for 3 days. Each stand had been hunted for 4 days a week for most of the TX bow season. Each blind was placed by a 40 yard x 40 yard low fence enclosure (to keep the 50 or so steers out) with a feeder in the middle. The hunt was for 2 deer, 2 hogs, and 2 turkey. Hunters 1-4 had zero shot opportunities (or sightings)at turkey or hog. Hunter #1 in the group got a shot at a nice buck, 110 - 115 P&Y (not recovered-poor shot) and passed on a 10" wide 8 pt. Hunter #2 passed on a spike, hunter #3 and hunter #4 had 0 shot opportunities. 3 afternoon hunts, 3 morning hunts, 4 hunters, 5 stands, with a total of 2 shot opportunities for deer, zero for turkey, and zero for hog.

Was the outfitter notified of problems? - NO

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to respond to this report. We welcome response from all of our hunters, good or bad. Most everything in this hunters report seems to be fairly accurate. The Texas bow seadon is basically the months of Oct. thru Dec. We conduct hunts four weekends in Oct. and three weekends in Nov. and Dec. each. Sometimes we have as few as two hunters in camp and as many as five. These are all 3 day hunts and the ranch rests four days each week. It also rests for the 10 days before during and after Thanksgiving, as we don't book hunts for those days either. It is hard to get hunters that come from states that have a high density of deer to understand that we don't have high numbers here in NW Texas. And I hope we never do. I try to make this very clear to the person booking the hunt. Another thing is that because of the sparse country here we don't putup blinds every 100 yards or so like you do in big timber areas. We try to make all types of game available to our hunters so hopefully they will have a shot opportunity at something. As hard as we try it doesn't always work out for everyone. Also hunters have to realize that on full moon hunts you may have to stay in your blind from daylight to dark to increase your odds on getting a shot. If you are not willing to do that then you will probably go home empty handed. If you care to check our track record you will find that for each non satisfied hunter, we have ten that are willing to return. And many that do.

Thank you again.
