Wes Atkinson makes dreams come true - this was a great hunt where I got to see a lot of animials and ultimately we made a stalk to within 33 yards of this buck and one other where we waited for 3 hours and 45 minutes for a shot opportunity. When it finally came the arrow flew true and we had the biggest buck that we could find on the ground.
The way my hunt worked was that Wes would drop me off at a blind on the alfalfa field near the concentration of does with the hopes of a big buck cycling through to check the does. After he dropped me off he would hit the road and start glassing for a big buck. He found one that was located just off of the property he could hunt - so instead of just saying we would need to wait for him to cross the fence Wes was making calls and trying to get permission - which he did. And we got lucky to have the buck show back up on the last day of the hunt where the stalk worked out perfectly.
Wes was in constant communication with me while I was hunting via text messaging and there was one buck that was a 140" 4 x 3 that kept offering shots out of the blind - it was tempting to take the shot but Wes was steadfast in his belief that we could do better, and we did.
