I had a DYI hunt with Southern Ohio Outfitters this past fall. This was my first hunt with an outfitter. Dave Lusk and his guides are top notch. Even though I was on a DYI hunt, I had a chance to witness the hard work and dedication that each guide had in trying to put their hunters in the right spot to have an opportunity to harvest a buck of a lifetime. I was able to take my largest buck ever on my 4th day of the hunt. Two other hunters were able to harvest mature whitetails while I was there. The weather was warm but as a hunter you have to stay persistant and good things will happen. Dave has thousands upon thousands of acres to hunt. You have to go out with realistic expectations. You have to hunt hard and hunt smart. Dave's guides will put you in the best spot possible. At some point the hunter has to take over. The guides can't pull your bow back and shoot it for you. I would recommend Dave and his boys to anyone and I will be going back. Like I said earlier, I took my largest buck ever on a DO IT YOURSELF HUNT. I was given a piece of property to hunt for the week. I scouted, hung my own stands and saw 7 bucks in a 4 day period.
