Hunter Comments
I do not recommend this outfitter

This outfitter is very expensive and does not have the deer that they claim to have. The owner should have some type of agreement with hunters for return hunts if the hunter isn't successful. There were 25-30 hunters who paid 4,200 each to hunt during the rutt. It was a complete and absolute disaster. Only 3 bucks were killed. Two of those bucks were illegal. One doe was killed. Some outfitters have no moral compass at all!! This outfitter will get nothing but poor remarks from me.

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

I always appreciate feedback both positive and negative. It helps us improve each year. While I appreciate Dr. Carney’s feedback, I believe more information needs to be provided to understand the whole picture. Dr. Carney is very new into whitetail hunting and he hunted with us for the first time last year during our later December firearm hunt. Dr. Carney could not have been more pleased. He had an encounter with a monster buck he called “The Mutual of Omaha Buck” and “Tatonka”. He was very fired up and excited!

During the very short three day firearm hunt this year, the weather could not have been any worse. Temperatures reached record highs (80’s), bright sun, wind gusts were 20-30mph, and we had a full moon. Out of the 22 lodge hunters (not 25-30) we had a total of 10 opportunities at 130” or better deer (killed two) along with 2 small bucks shot. (The two small bucks were taken legally, but this what Dr Carney’s was referring to.) Also, eight of the hunters were father/son combo hunts sitting together. Dr. Carney had a 180” deer at 30yrds and was unable to fire a shot. (The deer came in on him from the opposite side he was looking, when he turned his head the deer saw him). At lunch on the second day, I approached Dr Carney privately, after hearing negative comments made about his hunt. I explained to him that having an opportunity at a 180” deer was a very successful hunt, especially with the weather conditions we were having. Dr. Carney ended up shooting a buck that would have scored in the mid 140’s but was missing one side of his rack.

The week previous and after Dr. Carney’s hunt the weather was right and multiple 140’s and 150’s made their way into camp. Dr Carney thought we were the best after his first hunt, then after only 3 days and extreme conditions, he now rates us poor. In my opinion that is not fair to us or Dr. Carney.
