No Hunter Comments Submitted My name is Rick souza, i have been deer hunting over 30 years and i am a member of a 400 person sportsmen club. I along with 7 other men chose S. O. Outfitters, because of there promotions, pictures, conversation, etc.. It was the worst experience of my hunting life. 6 of us left before the hunt was over. weather was somewhat warm but there was no deer. The guides were friendly but shooting lanes were minimal for bowhunting. I would not and will not reccomend this camp to my club. The owner of the camp did not have the courtesy to ask us of any concerns or problems during the hunt. Thid owner should go into the restaurant business, because the food wasn't bad.
Was the outfitter notified of problems? - NO
This report about us is false and as you can see, this hunter could not name specifics, only that he did not see deer. I am not going to apologize for something that is out of my control such as these hunters picking the LATE LATE rut to come hunt, and the bucks being in lock down...he personally may not have seen bucks, but there was plenty of bucks seen and one of his partners shot a buck and made a bad hit, as well as many of them seeing shooters. Another falsehood in this whole story is the fact that the group did not leave because of not seeing deer, they left because it was pouring the rain and they didn't want to set in it, along with the guys recieving pornographic images from their "girlfriends", showing everyone in camp, and saying, " its raining, it got to get home to that", the same as they didn't want to set in the rain the day before in the morning. The whole group didn't leave, their were two nice gentlemen that stayed the last day in the pouring rain and both seen shooters at 45 yards, but did not feel comfortable with the shot. Its not my fault these guys booked an only 4 day hunt, didn't go out one of the mornings because it was raining and decided to leave early. They ended up hunting 2.5 days out of 4. Alot of hunters like to blame the outfitter, but there is some responsibility that falls on the hunter as well. You have to put your time in on stand. As an Outfitter some hunts are a no win. That week I will agree was a very tough hunt. I also must add that anyone who knows hunting in the late rut has to deal with bucks locking onto does and can make it tuff. This is a very unfortunate situation that even the biggest and best outfitters cannot help. As you can see from the report, nothing was brought to my attention, nothing, period, and on orientation day, that we always have, I tell the hunters if there is anything that is bothering you, tell us quickly so we can fix it... This was not relayed to me. This group of hunters were very good guys to be around and I did enjoy them.. Hunters come to me for big bucks. I apologize for a tough week, but do not apologize for things out of my control on a hunt. Some hunters don't have real expectations. We are fairchase, and these hunters feel they are paying for a buck when they come to hunt, when in effect they are paying for the experience and the opportunity to harvest a buck, and when they don't they get upset, this is one of those cases. We aren't high fence, its real hunting
The weather could have been colder. I was hunting over some farmland, and even when walking in early in morning did not see deer in fields. been No weather comments submitted
