Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

The property just has that look and feel of Whitetail Heaven. Beautiful rolling white oak hardwood islands, creek bottoms, and fingers amidst hundreds of acres of corn and bean fields, with some smaller food plots mixed in. Aaron (the owner) and our guide "Shock" were very knowledgable and in tune with the deer patterns and stand selection. Shock quickly gave my buddy and I a tour of the 300+ acre farm we would be hunting, plus part of an additional farm. We had about a dozen stands to choose from during the 5 days based on wind conditions and activity. An unusual east to northeast wind plagued the hunts for the first 3 days and then the wind shifted to the west and then really cranked hard out of the NW. I saw a real quality buck on very first hunt, a 130 class mainframe 8 ptr with nice G2 kicker that made him 9pts, and I grunted and rattled him in bow range and decided to let him walk. The hunting got tougher as the deer were not moving much and still holding back on the rut although there was pre-rut activity going on - the deer were very nocturnal. I had another close call that opening Monday night with another bruiser at last light that again, I could have shot at 15 yards as he came to check out the doe that was busting me downwind, and although he was a definite shooter in my book, I held off. Those decisions almost were regretted except for a very good hunt on the last Friday morning, when I rattled in a very nice 9 ptr that i was very proud of - although it was the only deer I saw in daylight, I shot him basically after only an hour of daylight and made a great shot and was very excited. What happened next was amazing, the way my guide and his help professionally took care of my deer, and to see how Genuinely pumped up Aaron was. Aaron set up an amazing photo session in his backyard cornfield that really showed his passion for making his clients happy. I genuinely felt that the guides and Aaron were every bit as happy as I was. Shock then caped out my deer and would deliver the meat to local needy families, and Aaron hooked me up with good local taxidermist. Others in camp saw good deer, passed up some they would later regret, and a few much larger were seen by those in camp. I think had the wind been more cooperative there would have been more success for the 5 days. It was no coincidence that my Monday hunts, and Friday morning's hunt were my best and were the only times I saw mature bucks, because the rest of the time the wind was a problem.

Weather Comments:
steady easterly breezes around 15 mph first few days which is nota common wind and limited stand selection, then finally got more desired westerly but then switched to hard NW for rest of trip, gusting over 30 mph. It only laid down briefly during my Friday morning hunt when I scored. Those hunting Friday night once again found the wind back up over 20 MPH...
