I recommend this outfitter

This was our first time to hunt with an outfitter and the experience was very rewarding. I have been working with Harold and Jeff since January to set up our trip. Everything they communicated was accurate in setting up and during the hunt. Their operation is family operated and they treated us like family during our stay. The food was family style and excellent (even with all of the activity I gained 5 pounds during my trip). This was a public land hunt and I was concerned with the quality of animals and the potential hunting pressure in this area, but as we found out the animals we saw were trophy class in our opinion and we never saw another hunter in the areas we hunted. The elk were not bulging or very active. The weather was very hot and dry for Colorado when we were there. We saw fresh sign every day. Harold worked very hard to provide a quality hunt. We put in almost 16 hours everyday and there was no letting up in thier efforts to make our hunt sucessful. The country was outstanding and Harold knew it very well and knew where the wildlife was. The best day was at the end of the week when we did get a little rain and they were moving after daylight. Harold expained the importance of being in shape for our hunt, and we were but it did catch up with me when I returned home as I crash for a couple of days to recover. Harold was very open to sharing his knowledge with us and we received an excellent education. Even though we did not harvest an Elk, it was excellent experience and I hope to return and hunt with them again!

Outfitter's Response
Agree

Rick and his son JR bow hunted with us in unit 17,we found them to be first class hunters, quiet in the woods and very serious about their hunts, both were in quite good physical condition, which made it easy to guide them, this is the first bow season in many years where there was almost no bugling even though the elk were in the rut, extremely hot and dry conditions can and did have a major impact on locating elk, a full moon had a major impact also, even though the weather was hot the elk were not using and had not been using their wallows, for several weeks. We are glad that they feel they had a good quality hunt even though they did not harvest an elk, we wish this were the attitude of most hunters, we would always welcome them for another hunt.
