Trackdown Kennels & Lodge was recommended to me by my uncle. I was VERY happy with the quality of the hunt, the guiding service, and the value for my money. These guys are awesome with one exception; the owner of the guiding service, Joel Guimond (Pronounced Joe – Ell), is not fond of bowhunting. He claims there are too many wounded animals compared to gun hunters. Although this is true, I’m sure, I didn’t go there to hunt with a gun. I met Joel at the Harrisburg Eastern Sports and Outdoors show in February. Everything he said during the booking process was positive, informative and appealing. After arrival in camp we quickly came to the realization that he is not fond of bowhunting. This negativity toward bowhunting started to irritate a lot of us in camp including the gun hunters. My comment to him is simple, if you don’t like bowhunting, stop offering hunts to bowhunters.
The guide I was assigned too, Megella, was awesome. After the first three days of seeing nothing he moved me to another bait sight. I saw bears the next two days. Unfortunately I did not harvest a bear due to my error.
I want to stress that my experience was positive and these guys really know bear hunting. How can you beat five opportunities out of six guys? I highly recommend this outfitter.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
The first two days of the hunt were near 90 degrees. The outfitter predicted the bear would not be moving during those days; he was right.
