cochina hunting club

This was a gift purchased for my husband. We arrived at Cochina Ranch at noon and hunted that evening, seeing lots of game. We got up early the next morning and hunted again. The weather had become bad, for south Texas, and the hunting was slow. The hunt that evening was improved, with a missed opportunity. The next morning was successful with the harvesting of a nice 9 point. I have hunted most of my life, never shooting an animal, always being the "spotter." I decided that I wanted to try and harvest my first animal. Our guide, Jim, took me to the target range where I shot my husbands 243. That evening, we went to a different pasture where there was a report of a management "freak." I missed an opportunity that evening. The next morning was the last morning of our hunt. We went out and stayed as late as possible. Finally, a "shooter" appeared! Jim kept me calm and talked me through my nerves. When the deer presented a shot, I dropped my first deer! I can not explain the excitment that we all shared.
Since December, we have been back to the Cochina, and have had a succesful turkey, hog and javelina hunt. John Austin was great the way inwhich he scheduled us with the perfect guide, one that was near our age, as well as the other deer camp individuals. I highly recommend The Cochina Ranch Hunt club to all.
