I have a review of a free range Hog hunt that me and three of my friends went on a couple months ago.
We booked a 5 day hog hunt with this outfitter that turned into a nightmare. Now this group of guy's that I hunt with know what their doing and we have been on many successful hog hunts.
It started out with the owner (Bob) telling us about how plentiful the hogs were on his property and that he get's tons of trail cam pics of them and had cameras running all the time so he knew what feeders, trails and wallows are being used so that we could hunt the active spots.
When we arrived we were taken to feeders that most were not set up before we got there because the guide that worked for the owner was finishing up setting some of them up as he showed us the spots. The ones that were working had several days worth of corn piled below them, that's when the bad feeling started sinking in. The owner told us that they were killing good hogs all year (our hunt was in early march) but when we talked to the guide out in the field he said that there were a couple hogs killed and that the hunting on their ranch hasn't been good since last october!
We hunted morning, evening and into the late hours of the night for the next few days rotating stands and never heard or saw a single hog between the four of us. His place looks to be hunted so hard that the deer would not even have anything to do with the feeders.
Talking to the owner is litterally like talking to a crooked used car salesman, lots of talk and promises but nothing but lies.
I just put this out to warn anyone looking for a south Texas hog hunt to beware.

I agree, they never saw a hog in 3 days, hunting was slow and I knew this and discounted their hunts $200 each. I offered a free or at least a discounted re hunt at a later date. They, the hunters were good hunters and were kind and respectful. Please remember that hunting is like fishing, you don't catch fish ever time you fishing, don't mean there are no fish, they are just not biting that day. We have had 3 years of drought and it started raining in September and has rained some just about every week since then and this has made the hunting hard. The animals are not coming to the feeders. I can not cancel hunts, some hunters think we are canceling so we can put others in that pay more or more hunters. We have a positive feedback score of 273 on eBay and only 1 negative. I do take exception to the hunter calling me a liar, we furnished as promised the food, the meals, the lodging, bottled water, cold drinks, ranch transportation, a guide to help them, 20 feeders, 15 stands and would try to help hunters have a good time. We did it all, except we could not make the hogs move on command, its a free roaming ranch, not inside hog proof fences. We are sorry the animals did not move.
