Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

Craig runs the hunts out of his home in Terry. He has a nice set up to accomodate hunters, you stay right in the house with him in separate quarters. He makes his home your home. Craig was up front in asking me my expectations beforehand and when I said I was looking for my first mule deer with a bow that was respectable but I didn't expect a guaranteed kill, there was a mutual level of comfort of what to expect from us both. I did this hunt on short notice and I only had 4 days available until archery season ended. Craig happened to not have other hunters those days so he gave me a reasonably priced hunt that worked out well for us both. The weather was damp the first two days and then it got quite nice. We saw only a few animals worthy of stalking. I quickly came to realize that a mule deer with a bow on a spot and stalk is pretty tough. When I arrived, Craig said I was only the 2nd archery only mule deer hunter he guided which made me a bit concerned, but he is still at 100% on archery! He takes a lot of archery antelope and rifle deer and antelope hunters later in the fall. The terrain is mostly open and rough country i.e. badlands so the archery hunting is as tough as it can get. There is probably better places to archery hunt mulies as far as terrain and trophy quantity, but Craig prices his hunts accordingly and treats the guest very well. He is about as good as it gets. On the 3rd day he put me on one of his leases that was an alfalfa field where the deer fed all night and move off in the morning. I snuck around the bottom of a ditch trying to cut off the deer as they moved off the field and took my buck. That afternoon I was able to spend a couple of hours shooting prairie dogs and could have done some bird hunting on the last day had I decided to stay over. Craig will make reasonable accomodations as requested and treats you more like a hunting buddy than a client writing a check. A measure of any hunt or vacation is whether or not you look forward to going home. I'd have rather stayed and hunted more. I would recommend this outfitter.
