I do not recommend this outfitter

This Outfitter continually tells you what he thinks you wanted to hear, he told us many outright lies. I inquired before booking this hunt as to which hunt (early wallow hunt or rut hunt) would be the best for a chance at a trophy bull, I was told without a doubt that the early wallow hunt would give me the best oppertunity as I would see many more trophy Moose then the rut hunt. This I beleive was a story he told us to get us to book as his rut hunts were already booked.

We called him on our drive up to let him know where we were and when we would arrive. Also to inquire as to how the current hunters were doing, we were told that they had not shot anything as they were Trophy hunting but they were passing up many shooting oppertunities. This was a outright lie as we found out later from what the outfitter told us in camp and from reading his journal, they only saw 1 very small Bull at a great distance and they were not trophy hunting. We were told that they would have stands set up at all the good wallows and have trail camera's out at these spots so we would know what was coming in and when. This was not the case they had stands on only 2 wallows, one of which the Moose were not using, luckly we brought our own stands with us so were able to set them up on other wallows. I did have one very small bull come to a wallow I was hunting late in the hunt but there were no shooting holes cut were he came in so there was never any chance for a shot. We ended up leaving camp 1 day early to come home as we could tell that we were wasting our time, the same day we left camp the Outfitter got onto the Bowsite starting a thread to IMHO discredit us. By the time I got home I had several Email and phone calls telling to look at this thread which I did. When I responded telling of some of our problems and that we were trying to work things out with the Outfitter in private. To this the Outfitter responded lying about us and our hunt stating he was glad our hunt was a Dud and that we were rude and obnozious while in camp which we were not. The Outfitter and his family know that these are outright lies however even after this happened we still tried to work things out with him to no availe. This is only some of the problems we had with this Outfitter as it would take far to much time to write every detail and for someone to read it.

We tried to discuss our issues with this Outfitter while we were in camp but once he knew we were planning to leave early and how unhappy we were with the situation he would not discuss it. We were offered minimally discounted hunts to come back at another date, but before we could discuss it and talk to Lloyd about it he had started a campain on the Bowsite to discredit us. So after seeing how he was treating us there was no way we would ever spend any more money with him. I would stronly recommend that anyone lookiing to hunt Moose go somewhere else as I am sure you will be very sorry if you waste any of your hard earned money hunting with Pink Mountain Outfitters. If anyone wants more info please feel free to contact me personally. I also have the thread saved (I did this before it was pulled) that was on the Bowsite if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

The hunt that Mr. Rockwell is referring to here was advertised and sold as a first time early wallow bowhunt for any size bull moose and the cost was aproximately 65% of a normal trophy moose hunt during the rut. Pink Mountain Outfitters spent over $2000.00 on ladder stands just prior to this hunt , and they were set out. I am not sure where to begin , but suffice to say , upon arrival in camp and after getting settled in , I asked if Mr. Rockwell would like to take a few shots from our new two person ladder stand beside camp that was set up to ensure all equipment was in good shape after the travels. The response I got was that he had shot many times from stands and would not need to shoot from this one. Anything within 40 yards was as good as dead . Upon arrival in Fort St. John , BC , the hunters were put up in a very nice motel at my cost of aprox. $169.00 per person . The next day , the hunters were met promptly and punctually at the agreed time at the motel. Then it was off to camp . They stayed in an extremely nice tent camp complete with shower , wooden floors , generator set , deep freeze , electric food cooler , and in fact this very camp is being used overseas as an example of how nice a hunting camp in the bush can be . Mr. Rockwell complimented me on the food at different times during the stay. I have used this motel and camp for three seasons now , and will continue to use them , and so the above is factual and verifiable by anyone. The hunting was very slow , no question by anyone on that issue, but the fact is that Mr. Rockwell had a legal bull moose in front of him in a wallow at less then 20 yards . It was not a huge bull moose , but legal and would have been excellent eating . Both my guide and I tried very hard to make it happen , but it was not to be .

Mr. Rockwell asked me about a discounted hunt during the rut , and in fact I offered a hunt at $500.00 per day all included with no trophy fee. Fortunately I have the paper I wrote it on or I would be called a liar for this as well . This represents just over 1/2 price of a normal trophy hunt , so your slightly discounted offer is slightly off. I did not truly understand other outfitters when they talked about hunters who were impossible to please and guide until this hunt , but I sure do now. Thank goodness that hunters like this are very few and far between and I hope it is a long time before I get another . I did not tape record this hunt , but if anyone would like to see them , my tree stands are all still up and my camp will be there for bear season , and I can assure anyone that both the camp and wallows would please any real bowhunter.

I was told by a very long time reliable outfitter that most times when you have trouble with clients , it will be during either a free or discounted hunt , and now I believe him. Shoot straight, Sincerely Lloyd Clark
