I most liked Roger's professionalism and patience. It bears mentioning here that I met Roger after an exhaustive Internet search and having spoken to a couple dozen outfitters in both S. Africa and Namibia. The PH's would be really nice at first and then I'd say "bow" and that ended the conversation with half of the lot right there. The rest were interested, but many were going to charge higher daily rates because "it was harder on the trackers" and all of the takers wanted to dump me off in a blind in the morning and fetch me in the evening. This wasn't very attractive to me for at that time as I had never made a bow kill. That Roger was willing to take on a complete greenhorn really won me over. Ever since those first e-mails Roger has been my bowhunting mentor - he still is. Roger's not "preachy" and will offer advise only if you ask for (or obviously need) it.
I've hunted at Vieranas a total of 3 times and plan to go back.
Tyler, thanks for the kind words it is always a pleasure, see you in 2010. I just have to mention that on Tyler's first hunt he made good shot on a Dassie (Hyrax) one arrow, Dassie King!
